There are some easy criticisms of the study. First and most notably, there was no control or placebo group. Second, the study only involved 23 subjects.
The researchers acknowledged these drawbacks and stated they could not make any conclusions from this study and recommended further testing:
“Given that this study did not have a placebo control, we cannot conclusively determine whether or not Mind is the cause of the increased scores. Further placebo controlled studies will be required.”
Critics will also argue that participants will naturally get better at brain tests the second and third time they complete the test, regardless of whether or not they took a supplement. That’s why a placebo control group would have been crucial.
