What is HVNSleep?

HVNSleep is a smart snoring device that sits underneath your chin to prevent snoring.

The device features an ergonomic design that prevents snoring using TENS technology. You wear it nightly to enjoy a better sleep. The device also delivers in-depth sleep data reports, among other benefits.

HVNSleep is available exclusively through BuyHVNSleep.com, where it’s priced at $120 per unit. The device is sold online by a Clifton, New Jersey-based ecommerce company.

Typically, stop snoring devices use physical systems to stop snoring – like pads that separate your nostrils or pillows that position your head in a certain way. HVNSleep is the first stop snoring device we have reviewed that uses electrical stimulation instead.

Let’s take a closer look at how HVNSleep works to see if it really stops snoring.

How Does HVNSleep Work?

HVNSleep claims to stop snoring using a combination of an app and a physical device.

You place HVNSleep under your chin before you fall asleep. The system uses advanced sound recognition to detect snoring, then interacts with your body’s natural electrical systems to stop snoring immediately.

Once you wake up, the HVNSleep app delivers a detailed sleep report that explains how much you snored and how well you slept.

HVNSleep is built using transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) technology. TENS is typically used for pain relief. You might apply a TENS system directly to the source of your pain, for example. The device delivers electrical impulses through electrodes on the surface of your skin. You place the electrodes at or near nerves where the pain is located or at other trigger points, and the device provides short-term pain relief.

In recent years, we’ve seen several TENS devices claim to stop snoring. Priced between $40 and $400, these TENS snoring systems claim to use electrical impulses to prevent snoring without waking you up. The electrical impulses gently encourage you to stop snoring, and you get a good night’s sleep without disruption.

How to Use HVNSleep

Here’s how HVNSleep claims to work:

Step 1) You charge HVNSleep before sleep by connecting the USB cable to the charging base and placing the device on the base to charge. HVNSleep lasts for 15 hours per charge and takes about 2 hours to go from 0 to 100%.

Step 2) Download the Sleeplus mobile app to your device, then turn on your Bluetooth. Follow the instructions to pair your phone with the device.

Step 3) Make sure your throat is clean and dry, then place the strip below your chin. Ensure the groove is near your throat. Press the strip for about 30 seconds to ensure good contact, then turn on the device and place it into the groove. The device comes with a magnetic electrode patch made from adhesive, medical-grade fabric. It’s designed to be comfortable and easy to use.

Step 4) Fall asleep. Once you fall asleep, the sensors in HVNSleep detect and collect snoring data. The device uses bone conduction technology to detect and analyze snoring – similar to the technology within high-end headphones.

Step 5) When HVNSleep detects snoring, it sounds a range of electrical impulses at 10Hz to 60Hz. These impulses stimulate your throat muscles, encouraging your body to make adjustments to your breathing without any shocks or rude awakenings.

Step 6) HVNSleep also stimulates the sublingual muscles (the muscles underneath your tongue), increasing airflow through your respiratory tract and helping you breathe smoothly throughout the night.

Your purchase comes with multiple adhesive patches. It’s unclear where you can order more patches or how much the adhesive patches cost.

HVNSleep Features & Benefits

The makers of HVNSleep advertise all of the following features and benefits:

Record and Analyze Snoring: HVNSleep comes with a mobile app that lets you track snoring and sleep activity over time. You can view the decibel level of your snoring from night to night, for example, and wake up to a full sleep report.

Better Breathing: HVNSleep claims to help you breathe properly by encouraging your throat, tongue, and neck muscles into optimal position without waking you up.

Mobile App: HVNSleep comes with a mobile app called Sleeplus that lets you track and analyze data.

TENS Technology: HVNSleep uses transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation to stop snoring. The device sends imperceptible electrical signals into your body, triggering your small muscles and nerves to adjust themselves and stop snoring.

Ergonomic Design: HVNSleep sits below your neck as you sleep, helping you fall asleep without disrupting your positioning. The device sticks to your neck using an adhesive strip.

USB Charging via Magnetic Base: Every morning after use, you place HVNSleep into the charging base, then charge the device using micro-USB. The device takes 2 hours to charge. You need to charge it every morning, as the device only lasts one or two nights (maximum 15 hours per charge) on a single charge.

Scientific Evidence for HVNSleep

There are plenty of devices that claim to stop snoring. Some of them work, and others do not work.

The problem with anti-snoring devices is that people snore for different reasons. Some people snore because their muscles are more relaxed. Others snore because they’re overweight. Snoring is caused by similar things (vibrations within your throat), but the reason for snoring varies between patients.

Because of these devices, some devices stop snoring immediately for some people and are completely ineffective for others.

Scientists have studied how electrical stimulation can impact snoring.

In this 2018 study, researchers analyzed how intraoral electrical muscle stimulation could be used to treat snoring. Researchers applied different types of electrical stimulation to 16 patients with snoring issues. Researchers observed significant reductions in snoring in controlled trials among the group.

Researchers concluded that the right type of electrical stimulation could meaningfully reduce snoring in certain people.

However, the wrong type of stimulation could contract throat muscles, increasing velocity through the windpipe and making snoring louder.

That TENS snoring study involved just 16 people – and 3 participants dropped out of the study because the therapy was uncomfortable. Researchers admitted that more research was needed to verify the therapy works as advertised. Nevertheless, there is published research showing electrical stimulation could impact snoring.

Similarly, there are devices like Snore-Assist that work in a similar way. Priced at $40, Snore-Assist is a smartwatch worn on your arm. The device detects snoring, then sends a “biological pulse signal to the nerve center,” which “causes the respiratory system to eliminate snoring inducement” by improving airflow through the region.

A device called Snoozeal was launched in 2016 that claimed to eliminate the need for CPAP machines and similar sleep apnea devices. Some research showed that device worked to prevent snoring, while others claimed the device was ineffective.

Meanwhile, a search on Amazon reveals plenty of devices that claim to work similar to HVNSleep, stopping snoring using electrical stimulation. One device called Snore Circle, for example, is advertised as a “Snore Stopper Smart Anti Snoring Device Sleep Aid.” Priced at $120, the device seems identical to HVNSleep.

Cleveland Clinic admits that TENS therapy can help with short-term pain and other issues. However, they do not mention anything about snoring or how TENS therapy affects snoring.

The makers of HVNSleep do not cite any studies or clinical trials performed on their device or similar systems to prove it works. As far as we can tell, the company has not tested the device on any humans to verify it works as advertised.

Overall, some evidence shows TENS systems are effective for snoring, but there have been few major studies to date.

HVNSleep Pricing

HVNSleep is priced at $120 per unit, although you can get a discount by ordering multiple units at once. Here’s how pricing breaks down:

  • 1 Unit: $119.99 + $8.95 Shipping
  • 2 Units: $239.98 + $9.95 Shipping
  • 3 Units: $269.98 + $10.95 Shipping
  • 4 Units: $329.97 + $11.95 Shipping

HVNSleep Refund Policy

HVNSleep has no refund policy on opened or used products. Once you have opened your HVNSleep, you cannot return the device – even if you never actually used the device or if you tried the device and it did not impact snoring.

The website lists two different refund policies. The main page makes it seem like you can return any unit after you’ve tried it if you’re unsatisfied:

“If you are not satisfied with your HVNSleep product, you can return it within 30 days of purchase for full refund.”

The website adds that there’s a “100% satisfaction guarantee,” which does not seem to be true.

If you read the fine print on the final sales page, you’ll learn this refund policy only applies to unused and unopened products:

“HVNSleep offers a 30 days guarantee on all unused purchases. Simply send the item(s) back to us in the original unopened packaging for a full refund or replacement, less S&H.”

Overall, HVNSleep’s refund policy is unusually strict. The best snoring devices available today have strong refund policies. Even the best snoring devices don’t work for everyone, so companies offer generous refund policies when the units don’t work.

To request a refund on an unopened, unused HVNSleep unit, contact the company today.

Who’s Behind HVNSleep?

HVNSleep is made by a Clifton, New Jersey-registered company named Quality Performance Limited.

As far as we can tell, Quality Performance Limited is an ecommerce company that sells products online – although the company does not directly manufacture products. The address in New Jersey is a mailing office, and it’s unclear where the company is actually headquartered.

You can contact the makers of HVNSleep via the following:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Phone (US & Canada): 855-219-4892
  • Phone (UK): 033 0818 0828
  • Phone (Australia & New Zealand): (02) 5133 5668
  • Mailing Address: 377 Valley Rd #1123, Clifton, NJ 07013

Final Word

HVNSleep is a smart snoring device that claims to stop snoring using electrical stimulation.

It’s possible the device could work as advertised to prevent snoring and help you get a better sleep. One small study showed TENS could prevent snoring when using the right electrical signals.

However, the lack of a real refund policy on HVNSleep makes us skeptical the device works as advertised. Even the manufacturer doesn’t seem to believe in the effectiveness of its product, despite claiming to offer a “100% satisfaction guarantee.”

If you believe electrical stimulation could solve your snoring problem, then HVNSleep is available to order online today for $120.
