Nervive: Review Nervive Nerve Health Pain Relief Supplements

Full Disclosure

Nervive is a nutritional supplement brand offering three nerve health and nerve relief formulas.

By taking Nervive’s Nerve Relief and Nerve Health supplements daily, you can purportedly promote healthy blood flow, build nerve insulation, enhance nerve communication, relieve occasional pain, and nourish nerves, among other benefits.

Do P&G’s Nervive supplements really help support nerve health? How do these supplements target nerve health? Keep reading to discover everything you need to know about Nervive today.

What is Nervive?

Nervive is a nutritional supplement brand found online at NerviveHealth.com. The brand claims to be the world’s #1 selling nerve care company, which means Nervive sells more nerve health supplements than any other provider in the world.

Technically, Neurobion is the #1 selling nerve care brand in the world. Neurobion is a nerve supplement brand from Procter & Gamble (P&G). Popular around the world, Neurobion is not available in the United States. In 2021, P&G launched Nervive in the United States, allowing Americans to buy supplements similar to the original Neurobion formula.

Nervive’s nerve supplements include three core products:

  • Nerve Health
  • Nerve Relief
  • Nerve Relief PM

Nerve Health is designed to nourish nerves, enhance nerve communication, build nerve insulation, and promote healthy blood flow, among other benefits. Nerve Relief and Nerve Relief PM, meanwhile, use alpha lipoic acid and B vitamins to relieve aches, weakness, and discomfort associated with nerve pain.

Nervive markets its products specifically to people with nerve pain. Some people develop nerve pain with age. You may feel a tingling or numbness in your extremities as you get older. This sensation comes from physical damage to your nerves.

Others experience nerve pain due to medical conditions – like diabetes. Many diabetics develop neuropathy. Some diabetics get relief from neuropathy through Nervive’s supplements.

Nervive Supplements

Nervive offers three flagship nerve health supplements, including Nerve Health, Nerve Relief, and Nerve Relief PM. We’ll summarize each supplement below and explain how it works.

Nervive Nerve Health

Nervive Nerve Health uses vitamins and nutrients to support nerve health in various ways. The B vitamins in Nerve Health can support nerve health by nourishing, enhancing, and building your nerve health in multiple ways.

The supplement claims to:

  • Nourish nerves
  • Enhance nerve communication
  • Build nerve insulation
  • Promote healthy blood flow

To achieve these benefits, Nerve Health uses ingredients like vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and alpha lipoic acid. Many diabetics take these ingredients daily, and some doctors even recommend using alpha lipoic acid (ALA) and similar ingredients for relief from neuropathy or diabetes symptoms.

Nervive’s Nerve Health contains significant doses of most listed ingredients. You get 1,000% of your daily recommended dose of thiamin (vitamin B1), for example, to promote healthy blood flow. You also get 1,000% of your daily recommended dose of cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) to support nerve insulation and 1,000% of your daily value of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) to help create neurotransmitters. Nervive mixes these ingredients with medium chain triglycerides (MCT) oil for added absorption.

Nervive Nerve Relief

Nervive’s Nerve Relief claims to relieve occasional aches, weakness, and discomfort. The supplement contains alpha lipoic acid, B vitamins, turmeric, and ginger. According to Nervive, the formula can deliver relief within just 14 days when taken daily, with some patients reporting a 50% reduction in nerve discomfort after four weeks of using the formula.

The alpha lipoic acid in Nerve Relief can help with occasional nerve aches and discomfort, according to Nervive, while the B vitamins enhance neurotransmission and build nerve insulation while nourishing your nerves.

Each serving of Nervive’s Nerve Relief contains 600mg of alpha lipoic acid along with trace amounts of turmeric and ginger (30mg total). Turmeric has natural anti-inflammatory properties because of the presence of curcuminoids like curcumin. Nervive describes this blend of turmeric and ginger as their Nerve Relief Herbal Blend.

Nervive Nerve Relief PM

Nervive’s Nerve Relief PM is similar to the original Nerve Relief formula, but it has extra ingredients like melatonin and lavender to help you fall asleep at night.

According to Nervive, you can get relief from occasional nerve aches, discomfort, and weakness within just 14 nights of nightly use. Like the original Nerve Relief formula, Nerve Relief PM contains alpha lipoic acid and B vitamins to help with nerve aches and discomfort.

Unlike the original Nerve Relief formula, however, Nerve Relief PM contains melatonin, a natural compound that helps you fall asleep. Your body produces melatonin when it’s dark outside, triggering your body to start getting tired. Many natural sleep aids contain lavender and chamomile for a similar reason.

Each serving of Nerve Relief PM contains 2mg of melatonin and 50mg of a Nerve Relief PM Herbal Blend with chamomile and lavender.

What is Neurobion? How Does Neurobion Work?

Nervive is the American version of Neurobion. Neurobion is a nutritional supplement sold outside of the United States to people with neuropathy and other types of nerve dysfunction. Here’s how the official Neurobion website describes the formula:

“Neurobion is a combination of B vitamins that are essential for proper functioning of the nerves.”

That combination includes vitamins B1, B6, and B12. There are two main versions of Neurobion, including the original Neurobion formula and the Neurobion Forte formula. You can buy the formulas at pharmacies and online.

Neurobion, however, is not available in the United States. That’s why Nervive is launching it. Nervive uses the same core Neurobion formula (with vitamins B1, B6, and B12) while adding small doses of ingredients like turmeric, melatonin, and alpha lipoic acid to the blend.

How Do Nervive Supplements Work?

Nervive’s supplements use similar doses and ingredients to Neurobion. Neurobion supplements have completed studies proving they can help support nerve health in various ways. Nervive’s formulas contain the same basic ingredients with extra ingredients like turmeric, melatonin, and alpha lipoic acid.

According to Neurobion.com, the B vitamins in Nervive are considered “neurotrophic” because they’re crucial for the health of your nervous system. Neurotrophic B vitamins include vitamins B1, B6, and B12.

Here’s how each B vitamin works to support nerve health, according to Neurobion.com:

Vitamin B1: Vitamin B1, also known as thiamine, provides energy to nerve cells, helping them function properly. This vitamin can also help the body get energy from food.

Vitamin B6: Vitamin B6 facilitates the transmission of nervous impulses. Nervous impulses transit neurotransmitters throughout your nervous system, helping your body communicate. Outside of the nervous system, vitamin B6 also contributes to homocysteine metabolism, which could play a role in cardiovascular disease and cognitive impairment.

Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 is crucial for a healthy nervous system because it contributes to myelin formation. The myelin sheath protects the nerve fiber and influences the speed of nerve signal transmission. With poor myelin sheath health, your nervous system has difficulty communicating. Outside of the nervous system, vitamin B12 also helps make hemoglobin and DNA.

Your body does not produce these B vitamins. You need to get them from dietary sources. Even if you eat a healthy and balanced diet, you may not get enough of these B vitamins.

Vitamin B12 is particularly tough to get if you’re vegetarian or vegan. In fact, there are no plant-based sources of vitamin B12, which is why vegans and vegetarians need to take vitamin B12 in supplement form. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to low energy levels and other issues.

Scientific Evidence for Nervive

NerviveHealth.com does not have a references page, nor does the website cite any clinical trials or scientific studies supporting the claims made. However, the formula on which Nervive supplements is based, Neurobion, has completed clinical trials, and Neurobion research has been published in peer-reviewed journals.

In this 2018 study, for example, researchers tested the effects of vitamins B1, B6, and B12 (Neurobion) in mice with neuropathy. Researchers gave mice 150mg/kg of Neurobion, then observed the effects. After 21 days of taking Neurobion, researchers found that Neurobion delayed nerve damage linked to chemical weapons.

Another study published in the Asian Journal of Medical Sciences in 2017 found that Neurobion could help with peripheral neuropathy. Researchers gave participants a combination of vitamins B1, B6, and B12, then observed significant improvement in overall Total Symptom Score (TSS) for peripheral neuropathy. Within 14 days. Researchers also found the treatment was well-tolerated in patients with mild to moderate neuropathy.

Some studies have found that vitamin B12 deficiency is linked with neuropathy. People who don’t get enough vitamin B12 in their diet may have a higher risk of developing nerve dysfunction. As reported by The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy, vitamin B12 deficiency is common in the United States, and it’s particularly common in the elderly: between 10% and 25% of people over 80 have vitamin B12 deficiency. Vegans and vegetarians are also at a higher risk, which is why many take vitamin B12 supplements. If you aren’t getting enough vitamin B12 in your diet, then you could develop neuropathy.

Vitamin B6 is unique because getting too little vitamin B6 can cause neuropathy – but so can getting too much vitamin B6. As reported by researchers in this 2014 study, vitamin B6 is linked with myeloneuropathy, which could impact upper motor neuron and lower motor neuron function. Vitamin B6 deficiency is common in patients with chronic alcoholism. Some pregnant and lactating women also develop vitamin B6 deficiency.

In that same 2014 study, researchers found that vitamin B1 (thiamine) deficiency was also linked with nerve dysfunction. Vitamin B1 deficiency is a part of beriberi syndrome. Although rare in developed countries, vitamin B1 deficiency can also occur in alcoholics.

Nervive’s supplements build on the original Neurobion formula, adding alpha lipoic acid and other ingredients. Alpha lipoic acid seems to delay or reverse peripheral diabetic neuropathy by acting as an antioxidant. Several studies have also found that ALA can improve insulin resistance and help with other symptoms of type 2 diabetes. Many diabetics take ALA supplements daily for these reasons. In patients with non-diabetic neuropathy, ALA could also help reduce symptoms like pain, tingling, and prickling in the feet and legs, according to some research.

Overall, Nervive contains B vitamins linked to nerve function in multiple studies. Nervive has taken the original Neurobion formula, added ingredients like ALA and turmeric to it, and now sells it online in the form of Nervive.

About Nervive

Nervive is a nutritional supplement brand launched in 2021. The brand is dedicated to holistic nerve care.

Despite being a new company, Nervive advertises itself as the world’s #1 selling nerve care company, indicating they sell more nerve care supplements than anyone else in the world. On their ‘About’ page, Nervive admits that’s not technically true. Instead, the company claims to have been “inspired by” the world’s #1 selling nerve care company, which is why Nervive claims to be the world’s biggest-selling nerve care brand.

Here’s how Nervive explains the unusual claim:

“…if we are a new brand, how can we claim to be the #1 selling nerve care company in the world? That’s because P&G’s global Neurobion brand has been helping people care for their nerves for over 50 years outside of the United States, and Nervive is inspired by Neurobion’s formulas.”

P&G’s Neurobion is not sold in the United States. It is, however, sold in regions around the world, including Europe, South America, Asia, and the Middle East. The brand was first registered in Austria in 1962, and Neurobion is the world’s best-selling nerve care company.

Today, Nervive claims to have been inspired by Neurobion, modifying and improving the formula while launching it in the United States:

“Taking those 50 years of global expertise and experience in nerve care, we created a lineup of dietary supplements that improve upon the core Neurobion formulas: Nervive Nerve Health, Nerve Relief, and Nerve Relief PM.”

To be clear, Nervive is a subsidiary brand of Procter & Gamble (P&G), the original creators of Neurobion. P&G sells the formula as Neurobion outside of the United States. In the United States, P&G is launching the Nervive brand to target the same market, helping diabetics and others with neuropathy deal with the tingling, numbness, and discomfort associated with nerve pain.
