What is CytoDefend?

CytoDefend is a nutritional supplement made by Revelation Health, LLC, under its True Cellular Formulas brand.

The supplement is marketed online as a “10-second immune booster”. By taking CytoDefend daily, you can purportedly boost your immunity using natural ingredients.

CytoDefend is available online through MyImmunitySupport.com or RevelationHealth.com. As part of a 2020 promotion, you can get a “free” bottle of CytoDefend along with an eBook. All you need to do is pay a $10 shipping fee. The official Revelation Health online store, meanwhile, sells one bottle of CytoDefend for $50.

Revelation Health is based in Allison Park, Pennsylvania.

How Does CytoDefend Work?

CytoDefend contains a blend of vitamins, nutrients, and herbal extracts. The supplement contains similar ingredients to other immunity-boosting supplements, including elderberry fruit, gingko biloba, astragalus root, licorice root, vitamin C, and zinc.

It’s no secret that vitamin C, zinc, echinacea, and elderberry can support your immunity. There’s a reason why virtually every immune supplement available today contains these ingredients. CytoDefend contains all of these active ingredients in a “super concentrated” liquid tincture.

You pour 1 to 2 full droppers of CytoDefend into 2 to 4 oz of water or juice, then take it once or twice per day as needed. Some people take it with a glass of water, while others add CytoDefend to a shake, juice, or other beverage.

Overall, the ingredients in CytoDefend are similar to the ingredients found in many other immune boosters. However, as you’ll learn below, the dosages are much lower than we expected, making it unlikely that CytoDefend works as advertised to support immunity – even if the formula is “super concentrated.”

CytoDefend Ingredients

CytoDefend contains vitamins, minerals, herbal extracts, and plant extracts. Here’s a breakdown of each ingredient in CytoDefend and how it works.

Bupleurum Root (Chaihu): All other ingredients in CytoDefend are well-known immune boosters, but bupleurum root (Chaihu) is not as well-known. The plant has been a staple in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years, where it’s been used to alleviate a spectrum of disorders by targeting immune health, the liver, and other areas of the body. Revelation Health cites one study where Chaihu supported the body’s natural defenses against influenza, the common cold, malaria, and pneumonia.

Elderberry: Elderberry is a dark purple berry widely used (and even prescribed by doctors) in Europe for relieving cold and flu symptoms. Studies show elderberry can reduce the duration of cold and flu symptoms, helping your body clear the illness.

Echinacea: Echinacea is an herb known for its immune-boosting properties. Echinacea, according to Revelation Health, “seems to activate chemicals in the body that interact with inflammatory responses, which might improve symptoms.”

Astragalus Root: Astragalus root has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, where it’s prized for its immune-boosting, anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory effects. Revelation Health cites one study showing astragalus root “may alter the function of the immune response mediators and cell migration via HPA in macrophages.”

Licorice Root: Licorice has been used for centuries for health and wellness. Today, we know licorice contains a chemical called glycyrrhizin that has strong immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties. Revelation Health also claims the licorice in CytoDefend “may support normal respiratory health.”

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): Ascorbic acid is a type of vitamin C involved in tissue repair and enzymatic production. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant often found in high doses in immune-boosting supplements.

Zinc Sulfate: Zinc is another popular immune-boosting ingredient. Multiple studies have shown that zinc-deficient people tend to have weaker immune systems. By taking zinc sulfate, you can give your white blood cells the support they need to fight back against infection and support immunity.

Overall, Revelation Health describes CytoDefend as a “with you all the time” formula, providing 24/7 protection for your immune system.

Oddly, Revelation Health does not disclose the dosages of most ingredients within the formula. We know there’s 38mg of vitamin C (42% of your Daily Value) and 0.45mg of zinc (4% DV), although we don’t know the dosage of any of the plant or herbal extracts.

Making things look worse for CytoDefend is that the dosages of vitamin C and zinc are extremely low. A typical $10 multivitamin has over 100% of your Daily Value of both ingredients, while CytoDefend contains just 4% to 42% of your Daily Value. At this dose, it’s unlikely the zinc or vitamin C will have any significant effect on immunity. For comparison, a small glass of orange juice has around 50mg of vitamin C, while CytoDefend has just 38mg of vitamin C.

CytoDefend Pricing

Revelation Health typically sells CytoDefend for around $50 per bottle, and you can still buy it from the online store for $50 per bottle. However, as part of a 2020 promotion, Revelation Health is selling CytoDefend for “free” (just pay a $10 shipping fee).

Here’s how it works:

1 Bottle (Online Store at Normal Price): $49.95

1 Bottle (Special September 2020 Promotional Price): $0 + $9.97 Shipping

Each bottle contains 0.5 fl oz of CytoDefend. Whether you’re paying $50 or $10, you’re getting the same CytoDefend formula at the same size.

If you buy the $9.97 option, you get two bonus products, including a PDF file called the Immune Boosting Smoothie eBook and a $10 gift card for the Revelation Health online store.

CytoDefend Refund Policy

CytoDefend comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee. You can request a complete refund on your purchase within 60 days, with no questions asked.

You may not even have to return your bottle to qualify for a refund. The online store claims, “all you need to do is email us” to qualify for a refund.

Final Word

CytoDefend is an immune support supplement that claims to boost immunity using a super-concentrated liquid formula.

As part of a 2020 promotion, Revelation Health is selling CytoDefend for just $10 online. The formula contains ingredients like zinc, vitamin C, echinacea, and elderberry, all of which are popular and proven immune boosters.

Unfortunately, CytoDefend seems to contain a surprisingly low dose of all active ingredients. The formula contains just 4% of your recommended daily value of zinc, for example, which is unlikely to have any significant effect on your body. Revelation Health does not disclose the dose of other ingredients in the formula, making it hard to compare CytoDefend to other immune boosters – or even to multivitamins.

Overall, there’s limited evidence proving CytoDefend works as advertised to support immunity – even at $10 per bottle, the doses of active ingredients in CytoDefend do not seem strong enough to significantly impact immunity.
