What is Reversirol?

Reversirol is a nutritional supplement available online through Reversirol.com. The supplement is sold by BuyGoods, a health and wellness company specializing in supplements and health guides.

According to the official sales page, Reversirol could be the solution to type 2 diabetes. One man claims he was “minutes away from a diabetic coma” from which he might never wake up – until he used Reversirol to reverse his condition.

BuyGoods also claims that Reversirol has “helped over 160,000 men and women”. By taking Reversirol daily, you can “help anyone break free from type 2 diabetes.”

Type 2 diabetes is an incurable condition. There’s no known cure for type 2 diabetes. You can manage type 2 diabetes with medication. Diet and exercise can help. There’s no evidence that supplements can help anyone “break free” from the condition – but let’s take a closer look at how Reversirol works and the story behind it.

The Story Behind Reversirol

As part of a 2020 marketing campaign, BuyGoods shares the story of a man named David Miller, a 53-year old diabetic who lives in Parkland, Florida.

David does not claim to have any medical or nutritional experience. Instead, he’s a physics professor at a college.

A few years ago, a doctor told David he was about to die from type 2 diabetes. The doctor told David to hug his wife and kids “for the last time” because he was “minutes away from a diabetic coma” from which he might never wake up.

David’s blood sugar was at 492, when normal blood sugar should be 120. He had been struggling wit type 2 diabetes for four years.

David claims his body did not respond to any medications. The doctor told him he had fewer than 60 minutes before he would “fall into unconsciousness” and never wake up.

To make a long story short, David ignored the advice of doctors and created his own treatment system.

David researched treatments, then stumbled upon a traditional Indonesian herbal extract used for type 2 diabetes. He packaged this herbal extract and other ingredients into a formula, and he now sells that formula online as Reversirol.

It’s a nice story – but there’s no evidence any of it is true. BuyGoods has created similar marketing campaigns in the past, with dramatic stories of people miraculously recovering from near-death after taking a supplement. We can’t find any evidence that a 52-year old physicist named David Miller was involved with any stage of Reversirol’s development.

Awkward story aside, let’s take a closer look at how Reversirol works.

How Does Reversirol Work?

Reversirol claims to use natural ingredients to solve type 2 diabetes.

Contrary to conventional medical wisdom, the makers of Reversirol claim type 2 diabetes is unrelated to genetics or diet. In fact, your genetics and diet “have nothing to do” with type 2 diabetes.

Instead, type 2 diabetes is linked to “a toxic molecule that hides deep inside your pancreas.” This toxic molecule “damages your body’s natural ability to control blood sugar,” leading to type 2 diabetes.

To solve this problem, Reversirol uses a ritual from a small island in Indonesia. According to the Reversirol team, this ritual can “help you lower your blood sugar to healthy levels” without prescription diabetes drugs, exercise, dieting, or insulin needles.

The company argues that its formula targets the toxic molecules in your pancreas. By eliminating these toxic molecules, Reversirol can purportedly solve diabetes and normalize your blood sugar levels.

Here’s how the company describes its methods of action:

“Once you start taking Reversirol is will form a natural immune barrier to protect your body from the EDCs [endocrine-disrupting chemicals] infestation and repair the damage it has caused. And after your pancreas is unclogged and fat-molecule free, your high blood sugar will normalize to healthy levels and you’ll break free from type 2 diabetes.”

Obviously, these are enormous and unusual claims for a supplement to make. Let’s check the ingredients of Reversirol to peek behind the curtains.

Reversirol Ingredients

The makers of Reversirol claim their product is “the only natural supplement that contains all the powerful ingredients from these superfoods plus a special mix of vitamins to make it even more powerful.”

Typically, reputable supplements list their ingredients and dosages upfront. Good supplement companies invest in formulas with high, strong dosages of the listed ingredients, and they want to advertise these dosages to separate themselves from the competition.

Unfortunately, the makers of Reversirol have taken a different approach. The company does not disclose its ingredients label upfront, making it impossible to see the full list of ingredients and dosages in the formula.

We know some of the ingredients in Reversirol, although we can’t verify the dosage to determine if these ingredients are safe or effective.

Here’s how the makers of Reversirol explain each ingredient and how it works:

Guggul: Reversirol contains an herbal extract called guggul, which purportedly “detoxifies the body, helps lower cholesterol and triglycerides,” and can “reduce pain and improve mobility.” None of these effects are linked to type 2 diabetes, so it’s unclear why Reversirol contains guggul.

Banaba: Banaba leaves “improve insulin sensitivity,” according to the makers of Reversirol, “which helps your body use the glucose in your blood much effectively [sic],” leading to a significant drop in blood sugar, cholesterol, and more.

Gymnema Sylvestre: Reversirol contains an Asian herbal extract called Gymnema sylvestre, which is native to the tropical forests of Asia. The makers of Reversirol describe the herb as “the destroyer of sugar”, claiming it “helps increase the amount of insulin in the body and increase the growth of cells in the pancreas,” among other powerful benefits.

White Mulberry Leaf: Reversirol uses white mulberry leaf to “slow the breakdown of sugars in the gut,” reducing the spike in blood sugar after a meal.

Other Ingredients: Reversirol seems to contain other ingredients, although these are the only ingredients disclosed upfront.

Scientific Evidence for Reversirol

You should be skeptical any time a supplement company seems to suggest their formula can “help you lower your blood sugar to healthy levels” without needing prescription drugs, insulin needles, diet, or exercise.

Again, there’s no known cure for type 2 diabetes, and it’s crucial you follow the advice of your doctor – not the advice of a random supplement company.

So is Reversirol really scientifically proven to lower blood sugar and reverse type 2 diabetes? Let’s take a closer look at the scientific evidence.

First, the company behind Reversirol has not conducted any clinical trials, scientific studies, or other tests on any humans or animals.

Despite the lack of any published trials or studies, the company claims “over 160,000 people” have used this program to change their lives. The sales page for Reversirol is filled with customer testimonials from people who used Reversirol to solve their blood sugar and diabetes issues.

As proof, the makers of Reversirol cite just 10 studies performed on the ingredients on Reversirol – but not on the Reversirol formula itself.

It’s true that guggul has been studied for its effect on type 2 diabetes. As WebMD explains, guggul is a sap-like extract of the guggul tree, which is native to India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Ayurvedic medicine practitioners have used guggul for centuries. Today, modern research links guggul with a range of effects.

WebMD cites multiple studies showing that guggul “contains plant steroids that lower cholesterol and triglycerides.” Although people use guggul for diabetes, WebMD acknowledges “there is no good scientific evidence” to support the use of guggul for diabetes and other conditions.

Some studies have indicated a connection between banaba extract and diabetes. Traditional medicine practitioners in southeast Asia have used banaba as a folk medicine to treat diabetes for centuries. This 2012 review study found evidence suggesting “insulin-like activity of banaba,” along with antioxidant and glucose regulatory properties of the tannins within banaba.

Although Reversirol uses two popular diabetes ingredients, the lack of dosage information makes us skeptical it works. We know banaba seems to have anti-diabetic properties when taking 100mg of banaba extract per day, for example, but it’s unclear if Reversirol contains anywhere close to this dose.

Overall, there’s limited evidence supporting any of the advertised benefits of Reversirol, and there’s certainly no evidence proving that 160,000 people have used Reversirol to “break free” of type 2 diabetes.

Final Word

Reversirol is a nutritional supplement marketed as a solution for type 2 diabetes. The supplement’s webpage is filled with unusual claims – suggesting that more than 160,000 people have used this method to “break free” of type 2 diabetes with no medication, exercise, or dieting required.

Overall, there’s limited evidence that Reversirol works as advertised or that the supplement is worth $50 to $70 per bottle – especially given the lack of transparency over ingredients and dosages.
