Prostate Freedom Formula is marketed towards middle-aged and older men who are starting to experience prostate problems It’s marketed to men who wake up frequently during the night to pee, suffer erectile dysfunction and lack of sex drive, and have weak urine streams, among other prostate symptoms.
However, it’s also marketed to men with none of the above warning signs. Richard Kellogg claims he did not have any urination problems, erectile dysfunction, or sleep issues related to his prostate – yet he still had an enlarged prostate.

How Does Prostate Freedom Formula Work?
Prostate Freedom Formula claims to reduce the size of your prostate using natural ingredients. An enlarged prostate, also known as BPH, is common among older men. Some men notice symptoms, while others do not. Approximately 70% of older men will experience prostate issues at some point.
Prostate Freedom Formula describes itself as a “shocking new discovery [that] reduced enlarged prostates in record time”.
Here’s how the company describes its supplement:

Stinging Nettle: The company describes stinging nettle as “one of the most powerful, natural, prostate-reducing solutions on the planet”. In one study involving 236 patients, stinging nettle led to a significant drop in prostate size. In another study, stinging nettle reduced prostate symptoms by 50%. These studies were long, involved many patients, and performed in a randomized, double-blind setting. Stinging little legitimately seems to have some ability to support prostate health.
Saw Palmetto: Saw palmetto extract is common in male health supplements. Some evidence suggests that saw palmetto can also support prostate health. In one study, participants took saw palmetto fruit extract for 2 months, then experienced a 53% reduction in enlarged prostate and a 40% increase in sexual function. The company also cites a study showing that saw palmetto improved BPH by 46% after 6 months.
Zinc: Zinc is a crucial mineral. If your body does not get enough zinc, then you could experience several problems, and zinc is linked with good prostate health.

Scientific Evidence for Prostate Freedom Formula
The company behind Prostate Freedom Formula has never studied the supplement in a clinical trial or similar setting.
However, the company does cite studies on its individual ingredients. Certain ingredients in Prostate Freedom Formula are linked with better prostate health, including ingredients like zinc, stinging nettle, and saw palmetto.

Some studies have also analyzed the combination of stinging nettle and saw palmetto. If both ingredients seem to reduce prostate size on their own, then how effective could they work together? In one study, researchers sought to answer that question. They gave 431 men a combination of stinging nettle and saw palmetto. After 24 weeks, men with the nettle-palmetto combo saw a dramatic increase in force and ease when urinating and a massive reduction in prostate size and BPH symptoms. There were no side effects.
Other studies are less supportive of the ingredients.
Freedom Formulas cites this 2006 study, for example, as proof that saw palmetto works. In that double-blind trial, 225 men over age 49 with moderate to severe prostate symptoms took 160mg of saw palmetto extract twice per day. After one year, researchers noticed no difference between the saw palmetto group and a placebo group, concluding that “In this study, saw palmetto did not improve symptoms or objective measures of benign prostatic hyperplasia.”
Prostate Freedom Formula also contains a significant amount of plant sterol complex (300mg per serving). The company cites this 1999 study as evidence. In that study, 519 men took either plant sterols or a placebo for 4 to 26 weeks. Researchers found that the active ingredient “improves urological symptoms and flow measures”, although cautioned that studies were “limited by short treatment duration and lack of standardized beta-sitosterol preparations”, adding that the “long-term effectiveness, safety and ability to prevent the complications of BPH are unknown”.
There’s another problem with the cited studies: they use different dosages than what’s included in Prostate Freedom Formula. The study on saw palmetto extract, for example, used 320mg per day, while Prostate Freedom Formula only contains 200mg. Many of the ingredients – like the mushroom extract and green tea extract – have just 10mg to 30mg of active ingredients per serving, which is likely too low to have a significant effect.
