What is CleanLight Air?
CleanLight Air is a portable ultraviolet (UV) purifier sold online by KeySmart.
KeySmart is best known for its flagship product, KeySmart, a multi-tool similar to a Swiss Army Knife. KeySmart has also made headlines during the COVID-19 pandemic for its CleanKey tool, a metal device that lets you interact with doors, keypads, and other surfaces without skin contact.
KeySmart’s CleanLight Air claims to use ultraviolet radiation to kill 99.99% of germs and bacteria in the air. You run the air purifier in any room in your home, then enjoy 360-degree protection from odors, smoke, dust, pet dander, and other contaminants.
Priced at $120, CleanLight Air is exclusively available through GetKeySmart.com, where it’s marketed as “the world’s most portable air cleaner”.
How Does CleanLight Air Work?
CleanLight Air is surprisingly small. It’s about the size of a portable coffee mug. In fact, the device should fit into most vehicle cupholders.
You charge CleanLight Air, then turn it on. The unit sucks in air, filters it using mechanical filters and ultraviolet light, then expels clean, purified air. The unit has an H13 HEPA filter that removes 99% of particles – like smoke, odors, dust, pet dander, TOVC, and air pollution. Then, air passes through the UVC LED light, which kills 99.99% of germs and bacteria using UV-C radiation.
CleanLight Air runs off your car’s cigarette lighter. You plug the unit into your car’s cigarette lighter, then press the power button to turn it on. There are two modes, including a low and normal mode. You can adjust the modes based on your desired purification power and noise level.
Need to use your cigarette lighter to charge your phone? CleanLight Air has a USB output that passes power through the cigarette lighter into your phone, allowing you to run CleanLight Air and charge your phone simultaneously.
KeySmart has designed CleanLight Air to fit inside a vehicle’s cupholder and charge via the cigarette lighter. However, you can power the device using any USB cord. You can attach it to your laptop or desktop computer, for example, to run it while you work.
CleanLight Air also comes with an aromatherapy sponge. You can drop essential oils onto that sponge to give your air a fresh scent.
KeySmart claims CleanLight Air will kill 99.99% of airborne pathogens. It will also kill microorganisms like mold, viruses, germs, and bacteria. You can use it to protect your family from airborne viruses, for example. Others use it to reduce the risk of mold.
Because CleanLight Air is a portable air purifier, it’s not as powerful as larger units. The air purifier will not filter the air in a larger room effectively. Instead, it works best for smaller indoor environments – like a dorm room, office, bedroom, or vehicle. KeySmart claims their device can purify up to 161 square feet of space – approximately the size of a larger bedroom.
In fact, KeySmart specifically markets the device to Uber and Lyft drivers who want to maintain a clean, fresh-smelling interior.
Yes, ultraviolet really does kill bacteria and pathogens in the air and on surfaces. Many hospitals use UV sterilization systems to clean equipment between surgeries, for example. Ultraviolet radiation disrupts the cells within bacteria, preventing them from functioning. Today, many air purifiers use similar systems to neutralize airborne pathogens and viruses.
CleanLight Air Features & Benefits
KeySmart claims CleanLight Air comes with all of the following features and benefits:
UVC LED Light: CleanLight Air uses UV-C radiation to kill 99.99% of germs, pathogens, and bacteria, reducing the risk of virus transmission and protecting any indoor environment.
H13 HEPA Filter: CleanLight Air has a 360-degree air filter that removes 99% of particles, including smoke, odors, dust, pet dander, total organic volatile compounds (TVOCs), and air pollution.
Ultra Quiet: CleanLight Air runs at just 27 decibels, which is approximately the noise created by rustling leaves or a whispered conversation, making it one of the quietest air purifiers available today.
Ideal for Cars & Traveling: CleanLight Air isn’t designed to purify the air in an entire home. However, the unit is ideal for smaller rooms, traveling, hotel rooms, vehicles, and more. KeySmart claims the unit cleans up to 161 square feet.
Portable: CleanLight Air is designed to be portable. It’s so portable, in fact, that it can easily fit inside a standard vehicle’s cup holder.
