On Tuesday afternoon, a group of Hempfield High School band members and drumline surprised Terry Ranieri at his home after weeks of a terminal illness.
Ranieri graduated from Hempfield in 1975, missing a big game on his graduation day. His favorite part of that event was the music, which the Hempfield band symbolically played on their Tuesday visit.
The band visit came after Ranieri returned home after weeks of intensive care, before dying on Thursday.
Ranieri had for years been a staple at football games. According to a Facebook fan page created for the 65-yeards old star, he had a friendly spirit and a unique sense of humor.
The Ranieri Facebook fan page has over 9,000 fans, and was created to pay homage to the man who entertained thousands of people throughout the communities for generations; a man who continues to touch the lives of many.
